Dunstable under 16s v Chess Valley under 16s

This Sunday saw Dunstable under 16s host Chess Valley under 16s.

The team this week was led by full-back Ryan, who was awarded the captain armband after showing true leadership, personal responsibility, and support for his teammates.

Chess Valley started the game, kicking off deep into Dunstable’s half. Dunstable were quick to collect the ball and drive forward down the right wing. After a number of phases, Dunstable’s back line showed quick hands, getting the ball across the pitch to centre Roshayne. Roshayne weaved through Chess Valley’s defensive line, showing great balance and quick feet, to score the first try of the game. Fly half Heinrich swiftly scored the subsequent conversion.

Chess Valley re-started the game, kicking again deep into the right corner of Dunstable’s half. Dunstable’s forward pack, with surging runs from flanker Zac and lock Blake, were able to smash through Chess Valley’s defensive line, for prop Luke to score Dunstable’s second try of the game in the far left corner. Fly half Heinrich narrowly missed the subsequent conversion.

Chess Valley remained calm and disciplined, executing a number of well supported forward runs. Despite Dunstable’s defensive line holding firm, a number of offside penalties by the team eventually saw winger Jaylan being yellow carded. Chess Valley subsequently scored their first try of the game, close to the posts. The subsequent conversion was missed.

Fly half Heinrich re-started the game, kicking deep into the right side of the pitch. Dunstable’s forward pack was quick in the chase, putting pressure on Chess Valleys ball carriers. This pressure saw the ball won by Dunstable, allowing them to unleash centre Roshayne again on the right wing, with him scoring his second, and Dunstable’s third try of the game. Fly half Heinrich scored the subsequent conversion.

The end of the second half saw Dunstable launch another wave of well supported, forward runs, down the right side of the pitch. Lock Blake, from one of these, was able to power through Chess Valley’s defensive line to score Dunstable’s fourth try of the game. Fly half Heinrich missed the subsequent conversion.

The start of the second half saw fly half Heinrich kick deep down the left side of the pitch. While Dunstable were quick to the chase, Chess Valley were able to retain the ball, and spread the play across the pitch, putting pressure on Dunstable’s defensive line. This pressure eventually saw Chess Valley score the first try of the second half, and their second try of the game. The subsequent conversion was missed.

Dunstable remained calm and composed with the ball, launching a number of strong runs down the wings by centre Benjamin and winger Rylan. This attacking and probing saw Chess Valley’s defensive line stretched, with centre Roshayne exploiting space on the right to score his third try of the game. Fly half Heinrich scored the subsequent conversion.

Dunstable maintained their effort and focus, and after a strong defensive show within their own 22, were able to launch a swift counterattack led by centre Benjamin. Centre Benjamin drew in Chess Valley’s last man in defence before popping the ball to fly half Heinrich. Heinrich took the

ball at pace and was able to place the ball down, between the posts, to score Dunstable’s sixth try of the game. The subsequent conversion was scored by fly half Heinrich.

The end of the game saw Chess Valley launch a series of well supported, forward runs, against Dunstable’s defensive line. Despite a number of strong tackles, by flanker Arthur and centre Benjamin, Chess Valley’s outside centre was able to smash through to place the ball down close to the posts. The subsequent conversion was scored by Chess Valley’s fly half.

The game ended with Dunstable winning 38 – 17.

Dunstable’s man of the match was awarded to scrum half Hubert. Hubert was fierce in the tackle throughout the game, showing no fear and leading by example in defence. In attack, Hubert made a number of strong runs, breaking Chess Valley’s defensive line on a number of occasions.
